Understanding Internet Quality Impact on Mojo Performance
This guide helps you identify how internet connection quality affects your Mojo experience and what to expect under various conditions.
Important Notes
- This guide covers common internet-related issues but may not address all potential problems within office networks
- The behaviors described below do not cover VoIP phone-specific issues (see VoIP section at the end)
- Key fact: If using a cell phone (with WIFI calling features turned off) or hardline phone, your call will NOT drop if you lose internet connection. Your internet only impacts data transmission in Mojo
Quality Meter
Located at the bottom left of your Mojo interface, the quality meter provides real-time feedback (with less than 5-second latency) on your internet connection strength.
While the meter considers connection speed, it primarily reflects signal quality measured by ping time in milliseconds:
- IIII (0-250ms) - Very solid connection
- No latency when navigating through Mojo or power dialing
- III (251-500ms) - Good connection
- Slight delay when navigating through contact records
- Power dialing performs normally with minimal impact
- II (501-750ms) - Poor connection
- Noticeable delays while navigating Mojo
- Contact-to-contact and data navigation becomes slow and jerky
- Reduced call volume capacity
- Dialing boxes may appear out of sync
- Lines may spend extra time in "free" and "preparing" states
- I (751-1000+ms) - Very poor connection
- Severe delays navigating through Mojo
- Extremely slow dialing
- Lines often stuck in "free" or "preparing" status
- Latency beyond 1500ms may begin dropping your signal to Mojo, triggering the "loss of internet" pop-up
Connection Loss Pop-Ups
Mojo continuously monitors for complete internet connection loss while both navigating and dialing. When a loss is detected, you'll receive a notification pop-up.
Note: These messages only appear when the connection issue is on the user's end. Technical support cannot troubleshoot internet-related issues, including network, firewall, router, VPN and anti-virus problems.
Using VoIP Phones with Mojo
While thousands of users successfully connect to Mojo with VoIP solutions, be aware of these challenges:
- VoIP phones consume available bandwidth, reducing data transmission capacity
- Connection problems typically manifest first in your VoIP connection:
- Delayed "hello" connections
- Call drops
- Distorted "robot voice" audio
- Conversation issues like talking over each other
Helpful tip: Request that your internet provider enable "voice priority" to prioritize voice connections over data during minor internet issues.
Common VoIP Phone Services
- Skype
- Vonage
- Magic Jack
- SIP desktop phones
- Comcast Cable Business Phone System
- And many others
If unsure whether you're using VoIP, check for an ethernet cord or phone line connection on your phone. You can also search for your phone's model number online.
